Description:

 

The Infinity-Laplace Equation is a fascinating one. Its solutions provide the optimalLipschitzextension of the boundary values to a domain. It also appears in image processing, has connections to game theory (a game called Tug-of-War replaces the Brownian motion known for the ordinary Laplace operator) and it has a strange mean value property. The modern theory of viscosity solutions is needed, and so also the basics of this important concept will be lectured.

 

 

Prerequisite:

 

Advanced undergraduate students and graduate students.

 
A basic course in Partial Differential Equations. The Lebesgue integral. Some knowledge of Sobolev Spaces is an advantage.
