Description: 
I will provide an introduction to moduli spaces in algebraic geometry and Geometry Invariant Theory (GIT). Many important examples, such as moduli of curves and vector bundles, will be discussed.  As a tool to understand the tangent spaces of moduli, we will also discuss the first-order infinitesimal deformations. Along the way, the beautiful birational geometry of algberaic varieties from the viewpoint of VGIT and moduli spaces will be explained.

I will provide some lecture notes.


Prerequisite:

One semester course on Algebraic Geometry.
