Professer
Abul Masood-ul-Alam got his B.Sc. with combined honors in Pure Mathematics and Theoretical Physics from the University of Exeter.
He did his Ph.D. research with Professor Leon M. Simon at the Australian National University, and under his supervision develop interest in Real Analysis, PDE, Minimal Surface Theory and Geometric Measure Theory. He published papers jointly and alone in black hole uniqueness theorems and static stellar models.
In 2006 he gave the first proof that according to General Relativity too an isolated static star must be spherical. The idea of the proof was inspired by the hidden connection of the symmetry with the original proof of the positive mass theorem by Professor Schoen and Professor S.-T. Yau. He collaborated with Professor Kunzle to discover what Professor Israel named KMB black holes.
Masood taught Mathematics at various levels in many countries since 1989. He is from Bangladesh.
