Visiting Professorship
Tsinghua University is a leading university of China. As part of its strategic plan, it recently establishes the Mathematical Sciences Center (MSC) to push its reach and training program to international frontier. Its inaugural director is Shing-Tung Yau. To reach its goals, MSC now begins a long-term and substantial recruitment program. It recruits professors, visiting professors and post-doctoral fellows.
While MSC will invite some mathematicians to visit, it encourages mathematicians in any stage of their careers to apply to visit. An ideal duration for visit ranges from one month to one semester. The ideal periods for visit are during Tsinghua’s regular semesters (September to June). We also welcome visitors during the summer months.
Each visiting professor is expected to participate in training of junior mathematicians of the Center. Form of training may vary from teaching a short course, conducting research seminars, to co-advising thesis candidates with Tsinghua faculty members. Junior mathematicians in the Center include junior faculty members, post-doctorate fellows, graduate and sometimes undergraduate students or other visitors. Period and duration for residence are negotiable. The residence should be at least for one-month long. Compensation packages are determined by qualification, accomplishment, experience, and intensity of training effort.
Several individuals from various career stages may apply as a team. To apply, please fill in the application form and send a vita, a publication list and a statement of expected activities (research and training) in one pdf file to fli@math.tsinghua.edu.cn. For two Recommendation letters, please contact your references to send the letter DIRECTlY to fli@math.tsinghua.edu.cn.
